Corsets have cinched waists for centuries, but for spring/summer 2025, intricate lacing made a surprise appearance on the key shoe silhouettes, too. Introducing: the corset shoe, one of spring’s most divisive footwear trends.
As its name suggests, this popular style echoes the hallmarks of a classic corset, with criss-cross laces threaded through a series of eyelets. On the spring/summer 2025 runways, there were multiple interpretations: from Simone Rocha’s Wizard of Oz-inspired red ballerina pumps, which featured ribbons looped around tiny buckles, to Dries Van Noten’s angular-heeled versions and Chloé’s kitten-heel takes.
