Summer’s Boho Mood Is Defined By This Blouse

Charli xcx has worn one specific type of blouse on her Brat tour. Ruffled, plissé and rendered in ivory, it leans into boho territory – but when paired with Charli’s custom briefs, knockout boots and wraparound sunglasses, this blouse is far from the trad definition of boho. It’s a little pirate-y (the spirit of Vivienne Westwood’s 1981 Pirate collection comes to mind), and a little Brat boho (broho?) — a look that will no doubt be prevalent in festival fields and at day parties this summer.

Charli’s blouse is McQueen, but fervid broho followers will be tracking down similar versions on Depop, Vinted and eBay – maybe even at car-boot sales. Other notable features of the broho blouse include a dose of frou (preferably undone and unravelling in one way or another), a level of sheerness and a silhouette crafted from lace, poplin, silk or chiffon. Above all, the broho blouse needs a wearer that’s willing to veer it away from flower crowns and towards a carefree attitude that is more Charli-coded — think daring hemlines, statement shades, and the like.

This energy could be brought to the sheer blouses with scalloped edges and lace-up fronts that wafted down Chemena Kamali’s spring/summer 2025 Chloé runway, or the iterations at Ann Demeulemeester that came with lace neckpieces. Saint Laurent’s diaphanous blouses in light marigold, electric blue and olive green, presented in the mid section of Anthony Vaccarello’s tailoring-grounded collection, also embodied this broho mood, as they were worn unbuttoned and relied on gravity to keep the gathered material in place.
