It’s 2003 and you’re flipping through the latest edition of Mizz magazine; “Where Is the Love?” is blasting on the radio and the dulcet tones of The OC’s Marissa Cooper can be heard faintly in the background. Sienna! Keira! Kate! The gang’s all here in their handkerchief hemlines, low-slung belts, slubby tank tops and suede boots. It’s the heyday of boho style and these women are everything we want to be.
22(!) years later, this It-girl trifecta remains as cool as ever, but the fashion merry-go-round has continued to turn, and, lo and behold, we’ve found ourselves back in boho’s warm embrace. We knew something was up when Chemena Kamali’s debut collection at Chloé was one of the most-talked about shows of the season. Harking back to the brand’s Karl Lagerfeld era, Kamali sent bootcut jeans, lace blouses, ruffled dresses and fringed jackets down the autumn/winter 2024 runway. “It’s very much about an intuitive way of dressing, about lightness, movement, fluidity and emotion,” Kamali told Vogue Runway. “I also, love the power of nostalgia; where you go backwards, you go forwards – you also think of today and what women want to wear now.”
