“There’s no one that does undone, relaxed chic like the Brits. I think it’s something to do with the irreverence and the English sense of humour,” Sienna Miller said to a room full of fashion journalists while introducing her collaboration with M&S. In addressing what she loves most about British style, she could have very easily been talking about herself.
With her signature golden locks and flawless complexion, Miller very much retains the It-girl glow that first brought her such frenzied media attention over two decades ago. It’s this enduring star power that’s behind the sellout success of her partnership with the high-street stalwart. So really, it will come as no surprise that this dynamic duo is back for another round, but this time focused on Sienna-approved partywear.
The new collection, which drops on 31 October, draws inspiration from Sienna’s own extensive archive. The eagle-eyed among us (read: Sienna obsessives) might recognise certain hero pieces: for example, the chevron sequined minidress, which recalls the gilded Burberry mini she wore to the Met Gala after-party in 2006 (and is also, Miller notes, a nod to David Bowie in his Ziggy Stardust era). Also in the line-up is a fuzzy jacket, featuring buckles inspired by Miller’s Noughties pirate boots, and a lace-trimmed slip dress (Miller’s favourite piece from the collection) that harks back to the vintage dresses she sourced on Portobello Road.
“This second collection is very much a party edit for the festive season. It’s got tailoring, faux fur, party dresses, statement prints, embellishment, co-ordinating accessories and also my favourite jeans from the first collection in two new washes,” notes Miller. “Seeing my designs in the real world is so rewarding. I love how each individual wears and styles them and I can’t wait to see their reaction to round two this winter!”
