The Skorts Obsession Is Going Nowhere For 2025

It’s been a year since Challengers inspired a “tenniscore” summer, but as far as fashion is concerned, court fever is very much alive and well. Among the top fashion items related to the trend, there’s been a spike in searches for skorts, for which, according to a recent Google Trends report, interest was at an all-time high last year, with mini hemlines and iterations made from linen and denim among the most popular.

Skorts have been worn by Grand Slam champions for many years – and now, a wave of tennis enthusiasts inspired to pick up a racket courtesy of Luca Guadagnino’s film – but they’ve garnered newfound appeal, thanks to styles that aren’t exclusive to match play. Gucci has been behind tailored versions that could be office appropriate, as seen on Bella Hadid last spring, while Jonathan Anderson (who masterminded the costumes for Challengers) dressed Alison Oliver in a gathered taffeta style for his eponymous brand’s campaign. The practical nature of skorts has also attracted artists including Jisoo, Olivia Rodrigo, Lisa and Jennie to wear them on stage.

As for selecting a skort to wear for summer? Pick a silhouette you can imagine blending seamlessly into your existing wardrobe – and is easily styled with your most-used basics. And while length is important, the fact there are shorts beneath could inspire you to be more daring.
