Perfect for cooler spring evenings, the denim jacket has become the go-to light layer for team Vogue, typically paired with colour-match denim bottoms (be it a skirt, shorts or jeans – yep, it’s all about the Canadian tuxedo) then finished off with sturdy flats, such as retro sneakers or loafers. Brand-wise, Cos and Magda Butrym have created the most coveted styles this season, particularly when they come in slouchier silhouettes that infuse any outfit with ’90s-inspired cool.

Elsewhere, look to & Other Stories and Cecilie Bahnsen for sculptural silhouettes in dark-wash denim that will work just as well in the boardroom (okay, maybe the fashion boardroom) as when you’re out of office; or invest in a cropped, slim-fit style from Agolde or L’agence, which are best paired with slouchy jeans or thrown over a slip dress.

When it comes to denim shades, you can’t go far wrong with a classic deep indigo, however paler washes, such as white and beige, are great for a lighter, more summery feel.
