This week, Vogue’s Alice Newbold asserted that “boring street style is the best street style.” Combing through the thousands of images captured from outside the shows this season, I have to agree with her – the outfits that spoke to me the most were the ones that I could realistically wear for an errand-heavy Sunday, as well as to a fashion dinner. The street-style trends this year were refreshingly normal – the unofficial uniform of Paris Fashion Week revolved around jeans and a shirt, with shoulders enveloped in a crew-neck cashmere jumper.
The outfits that have been doing the rounds on the Vogue Slack channels this fashion month have all involved everyday basics, like a grey jumper or baggy jeans, rather than any peacocking prints. A special mention goes to model Mica Arganaraz for her 2024 update on the model off-duty, jeans and jumper uniform – she used a rich burgundy leather bomber and studded belt to elevate her charcoal knitted polo and straight-leg jeans. As we transition into moth-ball season, it’s a helpful reminder that sometimes nothing can be chicer than jeans and a beautiful knit.
One of the best investments you can make when it comes to your autumn wardrobe is to upgrade your knitwear collection, whether that’s with a chunky cable-knit (like the one below from Cos) or a classic cardigan (&Daughter is an editor favourite).
