We all love an impulse purchase every now and then, particularly when we’re travelling – a last-minute magazine to flip through on the platform or a packet of Percy Pigs to soothe the existential pain of airport security. And clearly, A-listers are not immune to the allure of a little treat, either.
Yesterday, everyone’s favourite trend-setter, Alexa Chung, posted a selfie on her Instagram Stories, while passing through London Waterloo station wearing a pair of new sporty sunglasses – “rave shades” as she described them – from none other than high-street stalwart, M&S. Harking back to the wraparound sunglasses that were popular with Noughties It-girls, this throwback silhouette has gained momentum over the last few seasons, thanks to Balenciaga and Vetements, and a number of celebrities, including Bella Hadid – who championed a pair of OG wraparound Oakleys – and Kim Kardashian.
Underneath the photo, Chung listed the other items she had bagged alongside her new sunglasses – Percy Pigs, triple chocolate crunch, tights – further highlighting the general incongruousness of the fashion purchase. Yet, we cannot deny they look pretty great, and you’d never know that they come in at a purse-friendly £20. It’s our lucky day.
