Welcome to Vintage to Vogue, which sees the Vogue team take on a different trend or occasion each month and show you how to shop it second-hand.
When it comes to incorporating trends into my day-to-day wardrobe, I first consider how much I love it – is it just a phase or something that genuinely aligns with my personality? – I will only ever invest if I’ve thought long and hard. While I will occasionally (and only very occasionally), buy new-season pieces, I prioritise shopping second-hand and pre-loved, and thoroughly enjoy the process of looking for and finding something that’s already lived a life.
Ahead of autumn, I’m eyeing up worn-in barn jackets, as seen on the runways at Prada and Fendi for spring/summer 2024, and at Wales Bonner for autumn/winter 2024, as well as pre-loved party pieces, like a sequinned Fendi Baguette, an embellished Dries Van Noten skirt, and vintage camo (inspired by Martine Rose autumn/winter 2024). I’ve also been on the lookout for matching separates, having recently visited the eBay archive and found a rom-com-esque set from Alberta Ferretti, which offered a playful alternative to an evening dress.
Here, Vogue highlights some key autumn/winter 2024 trends and how to shop them second-hand.
