Recent street-style photos suggest that a number of trends will dominate fashion month this season, including (but not limited to), faux fur, polka-dot prints, bright tights, V-neck knitwear and asymmetric layers. Denim-wise, there’s been a noticeable shift away from divisive Noughties-inspired low-rise cuts and skinnies – instead, show-goers are leaning towards polished straight-leg jeans.
That being said, nostalgia is still very much alive and kicking, in the form of bootcut jeans, which have made a stealth return to the pavements outside shows. The most popular version this season, however, is more slouchy than its predecessors: Vogue’s features writer Daisy Jones dubbed them “slacker” jeans. Expect to see plenty more as fashion month rolls on.
When it comes to styling, various tricks have proven popular. Attendees have paired their easy denim with bomber jackets and fuzzy coats, layered atop shirts flourished with boyish ties, while others have taken to tucking their jeans into knee-high boots. Also on the agenda: wearing skirts over jeans, cinching waistbands with contrasting belts and embracing double denim.
